Love’s Widowhood and Other Poems by Alfred Austin SIGNED & INSCRIBED

Presentation copy to Edward Robert Lytton, 1st Earl of Lytton. 

Alfred Austin was the Poet Laureate of England from 1896 to 1913.

Lytton was Ambassador at Lisbon, Paris and Viceroy of India. He was also a poet and published under the name “Owen Meredith”. Oscar Wilde was a friend of Lytton and dedicated his play “Lady Windermere’s Fan” to him.

Inscription reads “To Robert, Earl of Lytton: from his sincere friend, Mr. Austin. February 13, 89.”
